Since 2010
OUR
STORY
A family kitchen that became a Grand Rapids institution. Here's how it happened.

Division Ave, Grand Rapids
BUILT ON
FAMILY RECIPES
Taqueria San Jose opened its doors on Division Avenue in 2010 with one goal: cook the food our family grew up with, and share it with Grand Rapids.
The recipes haven't changed since day one. The barbacoa is the same slow-cooked beef cheek we've been making for decades. The salsas are still made fresh every morning. The tortillas still come from El Milagro — the best.
When we had to close temporarily in 2020, we heard from so many people asking when we'd be back. In 2023, we came back. Grand Rapids hadn't moved on, and neither had we.
Today, we're still here at 1338 Division Ave. Same family. Same food. Same prices that make it possible for everyone in the neighborhood to eat well.
1338 Division Ave S
THE HEART OF
DIVISION AVE
Division Avenue is Grand Rapids at its most real. It's a corridor that's been through changes, but the people here have stayed. We've watched kids grow up, seen businesses open and close, and watched this street keep fighting for itself.
We chose this location and we've stayed here because this neighborhood deserves great food at prices that work. We have plenty of parking, a covered outdoor seating area where regulars come back week after week, and a kitchen that treats every order like the first one of the day.

What We Stand For
HOW WE
DO THINGS
Family First
Every recipe comes from generations of home cooking. The kitchen has always been at the center of our family, and that care goes into every plate.
Made from Scratch
Our salsas, tortillas, and marinades are made fresh every morning. We don't open a can when we can make it better ourselves.
Division Ave Is Home
We chose Division Ave because it's a neighborhood that welcomes everyone. We've watched this community grow for 15 years and we're proud to be part of it.
